Wine Route
The "German" Wine Route runs through the Palatinate region and is one of the oldest wine routes in Germany. It stretches approximately 85 kilometers from the town of Bockenheim in the north to the French border near Wissembourg in the south. The route is famous for the production of high-quality wines, particularly Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and other grape varieties that thrive in the region's sunny and warm climate.
The Golden Wine Route has been mentioned since at least 1914 in the atlas founded by Ernst von Seydlitz, the supplementary volume "Handbook of Geography," which has appeared in many editions:
"On the eastern edge of the Palatinate Forest, in the 'Wonnegau,' lies the 'Golden Wine Route,' a single vineyard stretching from Dürkheim to Neustadt, with Ruppertsberg, Deidesheim, Forst, and many more."
