Cycle paths in Rhine loops
Be it the Rhine, the Old Rhine arms, bathing and quarry ponds or swimming pools as well as ponds and lakes in the parks - water is of great importance for the Southern Palatinate and an essential part of the region.
The Southern Palatinate is known for its Old Rhine arms and lakes. Already at Wörth, the route runs directly along the Rhine with a view of the opposite port of Karlsruhe. It gets quieter and more idyllic further south on the flat, flat bike tour. The Rhine Cycle Path leads past meadows and fields, winds through alluvial forests to Neuburg am Rhein. A detour here is worthwhile: In Neuburg you can take a break at the picturesque Old Rhine arms. On descriptive boards you can also get information about the native pond turtle; maybe you are lucky and see a turtle or a swamp beaver (nutria). Then follow the German-French PAMINA Lautertal Cycle Path along the Lauter River to Berg. Behind Berg, the landscape changes again. Through the shady Bienwald forest you reach Hagenbach with its idyllic town centre. The way back leads along the cycle path along the Wiebelsbach on the country road back to Wörth. In the city, the Bürgerpark with pond and sculpture park invites you to take a last break.
The Rhine Loop Water cycle path offers an excellent opportunity to discover the beautiful Southern Palatinate - ideal for all ages! With its combination of nature experience and cultural richness, it is a perfect destination for a varied day trip or a relaxing weekend with friends or family.
